1.THE CHALLENGE

There were serious geological concerns associated with a new residential development on a steep hillside:

Soil instability: During the intense rainy season, there is a high risk of landslides.

Structural Risk: The foundation of houses constructed on the upper slope must be supported by a strong retaining wall.

Drainage Problems: Hydrostatic pressure would be trapped by typical concrete walls, potentially causing wall failure.

2.THE CHANGFENG SOLUTION

A mass gravity retaining wall system using CHANGFENG Gabion Baskets was implemented to provide both structural support and natural drainage:

Flexible Structure: The double-twisted mesh allows the wall to withstand differential settlement without cracking.

Permeability: The stone-filled baskets provide natural drainage, eliminating hydrostatic pressure behind the wall.
